Eastern European Home Remedies For Inflamed Kidneys

For internal use: with acute nephritis а) decoction of  bean pods: Boil 15-20 g of pods in 1 l of water on low heat for 3 hours: drink 1cup of the decoction, warm or cold, in the morning, at noon and in the evening before meals, or b) decoction of  wood squill (Scilla bifolia) –  boil 4-5 table spoonfuls of the herb, together with the roots in 1 l of water, until half of the decoction is left; after that filter and drink 1 wine glass of it in the morning, at noon and in the evening before meals.

With purulent inflammation of kidneys (pyonephrosis)

I. In the morning, at noon and in the evening, 30 minutes before meals, take 1-2 pills as big as corn, of the following mix: 50 g of Izmir white incense, 25 g of mastic and pine tar.

How to prepare and use it, see pyelitis, point 1.

Preparation: the incense and the mastic are crushed in powder and mixed with a little pine tar until the mix becomes like thick dough. Make little pills like corn from it, roll in corn flour and put in a suitable box.

Use: the first day take 1 pill 3 times a day, the second – 2 pills three times a day, and so on, until you finish the treatment.

Note: The pills are not given to children; teenagers until the age of 18 can take only three pills a day.

If you have temperature, drink 1 small glass of 75 ml (for children half) decoction of dill seed. Put 1 table spoonful of crushed dill seed in 300 ml of boiling water; boil for 10 more minutes. After it cools, filter it.

II. Twenty minutes after taking the pills, drink a cup of 200 ml decoction of barley – boil 120 g in 2 l of water on low heat for 20 minutes, and filter. To the same decoction add 50 rosehip fruit, 3 table spoonfuls of mallow (Malva sylvestris) (the whole herb with the root) and 3 table spoonfuls of geranium (roots). Boil for 20 more minutes and before you take it from the fire, pour 1.5 table spoonful of mashed linseed. After it boils for 3 seconds, take it from the fire and filter it through a thin napkin.

III. Two hours after meals drink 1cup of 200 g (a half for children) decoction of hawthorn bark and roots: boil one handful of roots in 500 ml of water on low heat for half an hour; filter and drink 1cup in the morning, at noon and in the evening before meals and before going to bed. Or decoction of  esparto (Stipa pennata), hop, Herniaria hirsuta, bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) horsetail (Equisetum arvense), twitch (Synodon dactylon), fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum), roots of parsley and goose grass (Polygonum aviculare). Of the total mix (preparedа with equal parts of each herb) take 4 table spoonfuls and boil in 1 l of water until 500 ml of the decoction is left. Filter and drink it.
