Eastern European Home Remedies For Liver Diseases

The functions of the liver are disrupted when it is not able to handle the increased level of toxins in the human organism. This can lead to different diseases, the most widely spread among which are: hepatitis, liver failure and cirrhosis. Patients suffering from liver conditions should be treated under medical supervision and, when taking herbs or plants for medicinal purposes, should always confirm the dosage and duration of the procedures with their doctor.

 

For hepatitis and liver failure it is recommended to use an infusion of corn silk and Basket plant (Callisia fragrans) trailing stem chunks. To prepare the concoction use 1 tablespoon of corn silk and 12-15 chunks of Basket plant trailing stems, finely chopped. Place them in a thermos and pour 1 l of boiling water over the mixture. Let steep for 8-10 hours. Take 1 tablespoon of the concoction 2 times a day, half an hour before eating. The duration of treatment is 2-3 months. After every 10 days of taking the medicine, take a rest for 5 days.

An infusion from calendula (Calendula officinalis) mixed with Basket plant (Callisia fragrans)concoction can be very beneficial as a supporting treatment for many liver diseases. Pour boiling water over 2 tablespoons of calendula flowers (Calendula officinalis) and let steep for 1 hour, then strain the infusion and mix with Basket plant (Callisia fragrans) concoction in a 2:1 ratio. Take 1dessert spoonful of the mixture 3 times a day, half an hour before eating. For acute conditions of the liver – use for 10 days, for chronic conditions – use for 2 months and a half, taking 5 days rest after every 10 days use of the medicine.

For chronic hepatitis, according to traditional medicine it is recommended to take an infusion from sweet flag roots (Acoruscalamus) and Basket plant leaves (Callisia fragrans). Take 1 teaspoonful of finely chopped sweet flag roots and half a leaf from Basket plant. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the mixture, cover and allow to brew for 1 hour, then strain the concoction. Take 1 tablespoonful twice a day, 40 minutes before eating. Consult your doctor for the duration of treatment.

The regular use of chicory (Cichoriumintybus)concoction, mixed with Basket plant (Callisia fragrans) and honey gives very good results with liver diseases. Pour 1 l of hot water over 2 tablespoons of chicory (Cichoriumintybus)and 1 leaf from Basket plant (Callisia fragrans) and boil for 5 minutes. Add 3 tablespoons of honey and 1 teaspoonful of lemon juice to the ready concoction. Drink 1 tablespoon of the mixture 4 times a day, 30 minutes before eating. The duration of treatment is 14 days.

 

The following herbal mixture is recommended for treatment of cirrhosis: Mix 2 parts of field horsetail (Equisetum arvensе), 2 parts of St. John’s Wort (Hypericumperforatum), 2 parts of chicory roots (Cichoriumintybus), 1 part of common yarrow (Achilleamillefolium), 1partof Basket plant leaves (Callisia fragrans). Pour 1.5 cups of water over 1 tablespoon of the above mixture, bring to a boil and let simmer for 10 minutes. Strain the concoction and drink half a cup from it for the duration of the day. Consult your doctor before applying this treatment.
