Story by Lilia Mladenova Tzaleva from Sofia
I and some friends of mine had the opportunity to go to Petrich on October 7th, 1964 to visit Baba Vanga.
We lined up at the queue with my friend (she didn’t believe in prophets or paranormal events) and started to wait for our meeting with the prophetess.
At one time Baba Vanga appeared at her doorstep, and started shouting that we are too many today and this made her very tired – her brain was becoming like elastic. Staying there she started to prophesy at random people by facing them – in front of everybody. People were leaving with a great amazement, once they heard how Baba Vanga was saying names of relatives or deceased, places, describing their homes to the very last detail, and so much more.
My turn came. My older son was a conscript. When I went to see him at the barracks I was calling him Goshka – as a sign of tenderness that he had to serve the mandatory military service, otherwise we call him Gosho at home.
Baba Vanga told me: – You love Goshka very much! He will become an artist, we will become a prosperous man, he will travel around the world, and he will have a second marriage.
– What can you tell me for my younger son who wants to apply at the university with Chemistry major? – I asked anxiously
– No chemistry – said Baba Vanga with a strict voice. Just like his brother he will also be in the art field.
Eventually, over the years everything that she said about my sons came true – to the very last detail!
I didn’t miss the opportunity to ask about my other relatives. My mother who was 62 at the time, did not agree to undergo a surgery. Doctors have diagnosed he with breast cancer. I asked Baba Vanga what will happen to her, and she said: -Your mother is staying at a big house with a lot of windows, and there are people with white aprons around her. Doctors have misdiagnosed her – it’s not breast cancer.
Indeed my mother reached the age of 90 when she passed away peacefully from a stroke. Regarding my mother-in-law who was lying in bed after being in coma, Baba Vanga said: – I see a fresh grave. My mother-in-law passed away in 4 months. Then Baba Vanga went on: – You are a very happy person. Good life is awaiting you in the future. All your relatives and friends love you very much, but your husband loves you the most. All this was true, but I never took this into consideration – I was taking it for granted. After my meeting with Baba Vanga, I started to look on life with a different eye, and I certainly started to show more respect and love for my husband.

I remembered one story for another woman, that I heard while I was waiting outside of Baba Vanga’s house. When the woman entered, Baba Vanga started to yell at her instantaneously that she is cheating on her husband, and left him alone to take care of the house and their child. She said: – Go back home immediately. You have a such a good man that you don’t deserve at all.
For my friend that was with me Baba Vanga said directly: – Why do you want me to tell you anything, when you don’t believe in prophesies?
This meeting with Baba Vanga made me realize that we all have our own destiny that we can’t change. I became a better person and started to appreciate everything that I had!
Story Analysis
The power of Baba Vanga to have an influence on the moral adjustments of people is huge. Due to the respect for her phenomenal gift, her words – whether encouraging or criticizing sound are usually taken as authoritative and trustworthy. Those words of the prophetess have the ability to change the direction of people’s thoughts and to adjust the consciousness to make an objective evaluation and deep analysis of one’s behaviour.
It is hard to say anything against the criticism of Baba Vanga as she is exposing the bad qualities of people, and the truth can’t be objected. After all even the most sinful man – somewhere deep inside him realizes his own mistakes – despite trying to hide them or find excuses for them. Once such a person is exposed by Baba Vanga – he most likely realizes that everything that we do, think, and cause is leaving a mark a somewhere.
One of the most noble acts of Baba Vanga is namely this reminding of the good moral values that a person has to go back to.
Baba Vanga used to say that some of the predictions can be cancelled or changed. If the sinful man becomes a follower of the good values and principles, his punishment may be reversed. If the good man takes a bad direction in life, his blessing can be replaced with a punishment.
