Vlado Dairedzhiev Story With Baba Vanga – poet, singer, and geography teacher in Petrich
Vlado has been close friend of Baba Vanga for a long time. He is also a close friend to Dimitar Valchev – Baba Vanga’s adopted son. In 2000, Vlado had published book of poetry dedicated to Baba Vanga that contained 12 poems. Some of those poems, are also made into songs. In 2015, Vlado will be publishing a book named “This is What I Saw and Heard From Baba Vanga”, where he will describe in details some of the most remarkable stories that he witnessed during his meetings with Baba Vanga.
Baba Vanga was a very strong character. She loved live very much, yet she was living it very simple, very modestly, naturally. She wasn’t hypocritical at all, even though she had amazing diplomacy skills. She didn’t allow people around her to have fights, and she had the ability to unite people. She was completely indifferent if people were Bulgarians, foreigners, gipsies, communists, etc., – what did matter to her was whether someone was a good man, and if he was not, how she can help him open his mind to become a better person. There was a lot of hidden philosophy behind Baba Vanga’s words, and many times I had to spent a long time, to understand what did she really meant.
Baba Vanga was a suffering soul. She was typically carrying her own pain and suffering silently, without trying to transfer some of this unbearable burden onto someone else.
Baba Vanga was telling me that she became blind because of the completion of a family karma – she knew exactly the reasons, she had told me the story, but she insisted to keep this information private – it was too personal.
Baba Vanga didn’t like to talk about her life in Strumitza (present Macedonia). She was just saying: “When you go to Novo Selo, and when you pass by the Hainska Cheshma (the place where the storm have risen Baba Vanga uphigh, and made her blind), watch not to step on my eyes!”
Before she moves to the Rupite region, Baba Vanga often went to Melnik – for her this is a holy land. This town used to have 77 churches. “It is a place where people can speak with God” – she liked to say.
Some time ago, I heard from a former mayor of Melnik that near the church of St. Dimitar – that only it’s foundations remain, there was a holy spring with water having very strong healing properties. This water was especially helpful in treating eye-related diseases, and was quite popular in all of Europe.
Today this church is still not restored. It is located close to the Pashova house. The creek is still running but there is no one to resurrect the memory of its healing properties. I hope one day, people will rebuilt the church and will bring the spirit of the saint back. Maybe this is one reason why the town of Melnik is not really flourishing – as if there is some sort of a curse.
It is remarkable to note, that Baba Vanga once again moved to live near a water. Her house in the Rupite region was very close to a hot mineral spring.
One year Doncho Papazov and Katya Paskaleva came to visit the Rupite. They wanted to shoot a documentary movie, because they have heard that this place is sacred and hides many secrets. On one of his tours around the world, Doncho had met a beautiful woman from the Andes who was a doctor. When he introduced himself that he was from Bulgaria, she had asked him whether he had visited the Rupute region. He was surprised how she knew about this place. The woman told him that her ancestors were saying that the world has three spiritual hearths – The Andes mountains, the Himalayans, and Rupite which is close to Rilla Mountains. Deeply inspired by those words Doncho with his colleague Katya decided to make the documentary. Really strange to me but both Doncho and Katya passed away before they could finish their movie.
Before Baba Vanga, Bulgaria had another legendary persona – Stoyna, also called Reverend Stoyna. She also lives near a mineral spring, and at a place with a very fertile soil. Both prophets decided to live in areas with strong energy waves.
Under the Rupite and Melnik, there is an underground river and uranium deposits. The radiation is not strong, and it has a positive influence on the crops, as well as on people.
I have heard Baba Vanga saying that Thracians and Liri lived on our lands, and they were very spiritual with rich culture. The successors of the Byzantines – the Mavri (or today’s Greeks) stole the culture from the Thracians as well as their philosophy. But since then they have distorted the truth in their favor, and today the world does not know that the Greek culture is not distinctive – it originates from the Thracians – one of the first human civilizations.
For things like that Baba Vanga was very mad. Yet she didn’t like to talk about that as she knew she would get into trouble. Every ignored truth is always connected with a conflict, and she hated the conflicts. Baba Vanga was not telling many things – and she really knew great secrets.
One of the biggest disputes that Baba Vanga had was connected with the Church that she founded. Priest Natanail was very strict that Baba Vanga’s church is not following the church’s canons. Priest Pimen was fully supporting her, and with his signature the church was concecrated.
I had the privilege to be around Baba Vanga quite often. She rarely talked about politics , but she knew that Bulgaria won’t solve its major political and economical problems for many years to come. I think that this pain was one of the many factors why Baba Vanga got sick and passed away earlier. She was seeing the political anarchy that was happening during the transition times for Bulgaria, the greediness that had appropriated the political leaders. Not only that – with a pain in the heart she was seeing many “parasites” around her that were trying to take advantage of her fame. With deep desperation she used to say: “It is outrageous for people’s houses to be higher than a church. A man cannot stay higher than God.”
In the last years of her life, Baba Vanga was afraid not to be poisoned. She was extremely careful what she would eat, and who has brought her the food. It was great burden on her shoulders that she was surrounded by traitors. As a matter of fact before the transition to an open democratic economy, Baba Vanga was forced from some high in the hierarchy people not to tell specific things. Some of her words were also by a script given to her again by the same people.
The local VIPs and political figures were envy at Baba Vanga. She was feeding the whole town with the money that she was receiving from her meetings with the public. All this money was deposited in the municipality account of Petrich. Personally Baba Vanga had told me that some of those high-ranked Government clerks that had access to this money had purchased expensive cars at the account of all those poor and desperate people that came to Baba Vanga for an advice. She was very mad at this unfairness. Baba Vanga despised vanity, boasting and people with no dignity. For her nobility I bow myself down.
Once I remember we quickly spoke about Ludmila Zhivkova – the daughter of the former communistic leader of Bulgaria. Baba Vanga said back then: “Ludmila didn’t pass away, she was killed”. However she didn’t say (or know) who did it. “Here in my fireplace, Ludmila had burnt his father’s books.” Apparently Ludmila was not approving the policy of her father, and she had sensed that he was surrounded by very dishonest and sly people. But Baba Vanga had no power to change anyone’s destiny. She could have seen what will happen, but she couldn’t have prevented it if it was bad.
One time I asked Baba Vanga’s adopted son – Mitko, didn’t she tell him about his car accident. Interestingly she did warn him by saying: “Mitko, you have an appointment tomorrow in Blagoevgrad. Don’t go with your car – rather take the bus.” Unfortunately Mitko missed the bus, and since it was an important meeting, he took his car. His car accident didn’t miss him. He went to numerous hospitals to get treatments. Obviously it was written in stone that he has to go through this serious accident.
Years ago priest Evseviy was serving at the Rozhen Monastery. He is a famous healer and wonderworker. Now he serves at the Chiprovtzi monastery. In 1994, a judge and his wife from Gotze Delchev came to Petrich to meet with Baba Vanga. Their daughter had had some psychological problems. I took them to Baba Vanga, and she sent them to meet priest Evseviy. We got there, and the first thing the priest asked for is whether they have a clothing of their daughter. They didn’t have any, so the priest asked them to bring the child to him. When they brought the child, priest Evseviy sang a pray infront of the wonder-working icon – the girl passed out. I don’t know what kind of miracle he did, but the girl fully recovered. Years later, her father told me that his daughter is a very successful student at a prestigious university. Many people have visited priest Evseniy to seek help and he had helped a lot of them including those that were diagnosed with terminal diseases. I remember once I took a good friend of mine who was suffering from epilepsy. Priest Evseviy read him a pray, and since then he hadn’t had a single epilepsy attack. Baba Vanga and priest Evseviy were very good friends. Both were very genuine, compassionate, humble, and submissive.
Baba Vanga was never interested in the topic whether people will declare her as a Saint. Such a vainglory was so far away from her. She was very upfront, and was chasing away people that were dishonest and mean. Yet she was a great diplomat and she was always trying to unite everybody that was around her.
I believe that the Rupite region will gradually become a spiritual center. I sincerely hope that we won’t see the construction of big hotels, and houses “higher than the church”.
There were quite a lot of disputes around the high-quality mineral water that is running near the Rupite. Baba Vanga had warned all – “if you start selling this water, it will disappear.” They stopped the initiative, but for how long…
The whole Rupite complex that is about 2 ha is declared a natural park, and is being afforested and is regularly maintained. Dimitar Valchev has given a lot so this place can be preserved and kept in its authentic appearance. But since envy is a typical character feature of the Bulgarian, there are so many bad rumours that are spread around Petrich to his address. This man wants to create something noble that will be used by everyone, yet he is not a good man… The truth is, this place is namely supported and maintained by Dimitar Valchev. Others including Petar Brachkov , Vlado Manolov and others who started Baba Vanga’s foundation, are some of the other significant contributors to this noble deed. At the moment, Ivan Dramov – local laywer, is the chairman of the foundation.
The monastery complex includes a museum with personal belongings of Baba Vanga, hall room, a wine cellar, as well as a small hotel. Also there will be a shelter for all sufferers who come to sleep near Baba Vanga’s grave, who truly believe that they will receive their miraculous cure from the spirit of Baba Vanga which is hovering around the Rupite.
